Hmmmm…
Ahhh the vagaries of IT in the hands of a semi-Luddite! To blame the technology for the challenges encountered in changing to a new computer would be neither accurate nor fair. Suffice to say that all usernames, passwords, pin numbers and access codes have now been recovered, repaired or replaced: like the governor said: “I’m b-a-c-k!”
A lot is happening in education land at the moment….
- Canada http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/education/article/854216—ontario-students-show-slight-gain-in-provincial-test-scores Read the last sentence in the article – pure gold!
- USA http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/01/education/01teacher.html?_r=1&hp scaryl
….sadly, NZ seems destined to follow: we’re on track to match Canada but nowhere near (yet) matching the States. Check out the Waikato Principals Association website http://www.wpa.ac.nz/1/file_sets/1-documents - click on the National Standards tab - and have a look at their power point presentation for parents; then make your own decisions.
